Toncoin has become popular largely through Telegram, and many people end up holding TON without having planned to. Converting it to USDT is straightforward, but TON has two details that do not exist on most other chains: the comment (memo) that identifies your deposit, and the bounceable vs non-bounceable address formats. Get those right and the rest is routine.
The comment: your order's identifier
For most coins, LarkSwap recognizes a deposit by its exact amount. TON works with a memo instead. When you create a TON order, the deposit screen shows an address and an 8-digit number to put in the transfer's comment field. That number links your payment to your order. Without it, the TON arrives but cannot be matched automatically.
Where the comment field is
- Tonkeeper: on the send screen, after entering the address and amount, there is a field labeled Comment (sometimes "Add a comment"). Type the 8 digits there.
- Telegram Wallet: when sending TON to an external address, look for the Comment or Memo field on the send screen. The wording can vary between app versions.
- Exchanges: withdrawal forms for TON usually have a Memo, Tag or Comment field next to the address.
If your wallet asks whether to encrypt the comment, leave it unencrypted. An encrypted comment cannot be read by the receiving system.
UQ and EQ addresses, briefly
TON addresses in the common user-friendly format often start with UQ or EQ. Both can point to the same account; the difference is a flag:
- EQ (bounceable): if the transfer fails at the destination, for example because the wallet contract is not deployed yet, the funds can bounce back to the sender.
- UQ (non-bounceable): the funds stay at the destination even if it is not initialized. Wallets now commonly show this format for personal wallets.
For sending to the deposit address shown on your order, just copy it exactly as displayed. Do not convert the format yourself.
Choosing a USDT network
One honest note first: LarkSwap does not offer USDT on TON. You swap TON into USDT on another network. Pick one your receiving wallet or exchange supports:
| Receive | Approx. payout cost | Address starts with |
|---|---|---|
| USDT TRC20 | about $1.50 | T |
| USDT BEP20 | about $0.10 | 0x |
| USDT Solana | about $0.10 | Base58 string |
| USDT Polygon | about $0.05 | 0x |
| USDT ERC20 | about $2 | 0x |
These costs are set by LarkSwap and can be adjusted. For BEP20 there is a direct page: TON to USDT BEP20.
Step by step
- Open TON to USDT and choose your USDT network.
- Enter the TON amount. The quote includes the flat 0.4 % fee; the minimum is roughly 20 USD equivalent.
- Paste your USDT receiving address.
- Optionally add a TON refund address. If it belongs to an exchange, include your memo for it as well.
- Create the order and copy the deposit address and the 8-digit comment. The rate is locked for 30 minutes.
- Send the TON with the comment filled in. Keep a little TON in your wallet for the network fee, which is usually small.
- Follow the tracking page. TON confirms quickly, so the USDT payout is typically sent within 5 to 30 minutes.
If you forgot the comment
Do not send again. Open your order page and paste the transaction hash, or reach the on-site support chat with your order ID and TXID. The deposit is reviewed manually; if the 30-minute lock has expired, it is processed at the current rate or refunded. The wrong network guide covers this and similar slips.
Receiving TON on an exchange
Swapping the other way with USDT to TON? Exchanges typically use one shared TON address for many customers and tell them apart by memo. If your TON receiving address belongs to an exchange, enter your personal memo from the exchange in the order form. LarkSwap adds it to the payout so the exchange can credit you. Self-custody wallets such as Tonkeeper do not need one.
What people do next
Once you hold USDT, you can keep it as a stable balance, send it on, or spend it. Gamers, for instance, sometimes buy CS2 skins with crypto. If you received USDT on TRC20, remember you will need some TRX to move it; and for other TON pairs see TON to BTC or swap TON.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a memo to send TON to LarkSwap?
Yes. Each TON order shows an 8-digit number that must go in the comment field of your transfer, unencrypted. Without it, the payment cannot be matched to your order automatically.
Can I receive USDT on TON from LarkSwap?
No. LarkSwap does not offer USDT on the TON network. You can receive USDT on TRC20, BEP20, Solana, Arbitrum, Polygon or ERC20 instead.
Should I use a UQ or EQ address?
Both formats can refer to the same account. For deposits, copy the address exactly as your order shows it. For your own wallet, use the format your wallet displays; modern wallets usually show UQ for personal accounts.
