XRP transfers settle in a few seconds and cost a tiny fraction of a cent, which makes XRP a convenient coin to swap from. Converting it to USDT takes one order and one payment. The single point where people go wrong is the destination tag, so this guide spends a moment on it before walking through the steps.
The deposit tag: the one thing you must not skip
For most coins, LarkSwap identifies your deposit by an exact amount with unique decimals. XRP works differently. When you create an XRP order, the deposit screen shows an address starting with r and a deposit tag: an 8-digit number. That number is how your payment is matched to your order.
When you send, put that number in the field your wallet calls Destination Tag, Tag or sometimes Memo. If it is missing, the XRP reaches the address but cannot be matched automatically. For the full background on how tags work on the XRP Ledger, read XRP destination tag explained.
Step by step
- Open the pair. Go to XRP to USDT and pick the USDT network you want to receive on.
- Enter the amount. The quote includes the flat 0.4 % fee. The minimum is roughly 20 USD worth of XRP.
- Paste your USDT address. A
Taddress for TRC20, a0xaddress for BEP20, ERC20, Arbitrum or Polygon, or a Solana address for SPL. - Add an XRP refund address (optional but recommended). If it belongs to an exchange, include its tag too.
- Create the order. Copy the deposit address and the 8-digit tag. The rate is locked for 30 minutes.
- Send the XRP with the tag. Double-check that the tag field contains exactly the number shown.
- Track it. XRP confirms in seconds, so the payout is typically sent within 5 to 30 minutes. The tracking page shows the payout transaction hash.
Choosing your USDT network
Receive on a network your wallet or exchange supports. Approximate payout costs, set by LarkSwap and adjustable:
| Receive | Approx. payout cost | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| USDT TRC20 | about $1.50 | Very widely accepted; moving it later needs TRX |
| USDT BEP20 | about $0.10 | Cheap; needs a little BNB to move later |
| USDT Solana | about $0.10 | Fast; needs a little SOL |
| USDT ERC20 | about $2 | Highest cost; widest Ethereum app support |
If you already know you want BEP20, use XRP to USDT BEP20 directly.
Keep your XRP reserve in mind
Every XRP Ledger account must hold a minimum balance called the reserve, which cannot be sent. At the time of writing the base reserve is 1 XRP, plus a small extra for each object such as trust lines, but these values are set by the network and have changed before. If you try to swap your entire balance from a self-custody wallet, the send will fail or be reduced. Leave the reserve in place and swap the rest.
Sending XRP from an exchange
Many people hold XRP on an exchange. The withdrawal form usually has an address field and a separate tag or memo field. Paste the LarkSwap address and enter the 8-digit tag in that field, not in a "note" or "label" field that stays only in your account. Also check whether the exchange deducts a withdrawal fee from the amount; it does not affect matching for XRP, since the tag identifies your order, but it changes how much XRP actually arrives.
What if you forgot the tag?
Do not send a second payment. The first one has most likely arrived at the deposit address. Open the order page and paste your transaction hash, or contact the on-site support chat with the order ID, the TXID and the amount. Support can review it manually. If the 30-minute lock has expired by then, the order is either processed at the current rate or refunded.
Receiving XRP instead
Going the other way, from USDT to XRP? If your XRP receiving address belongs to an exchange, add your own destination tag in the order form so the exchange can credit your account. You can also explore other pairs on swap XRP.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a destination tag to send XRP to LarkSwap?
Yes. Every XRP order shows an 8-digit deposit tag. Enter it in the destination tag field when you send. Without it, the payment reaches the address but cannot be matched to your order automatically.
Can I send my entire XRP balance?
Not from a self-custody account. The XRP Ledger requires every account to keep a reserve, currently a base of 1 XRP plus extras for objects such as trust lines. Leave that amount and swap the rest.
I sent XRP without the tag. What should I do?
Do not send again. Paste your transaction hash on the order page or contact support through the on-site chat with your order ID and TXID. The deposit is reviewed manually.
