By continuing you accept that funds are sent to the address provided and cannot be reversed.

Three steps, start to finish

01

Lock your rate

Choose what you send, what you receive and the wallet it goes to. The quote is fixed the moment you create the order.

02

Make the deposit

Send the exact amount to the address we give you. Your order page updates by itself as the blockchain confirms it.

03

Get paid out

Once confirmed, your coins are on their way. The payout hash appears in your order so you can verify it on-chain.

ERC20 is the token standard of Ethereum. BEP20 is the equivalent standard on BNB Smart Chain (BSC), which was designed to be compatible with Ethereum's tooling. Because of that compatibility, BEP20 and ERC20 tokens look almost identical in a wallet — and that is exactly why people mix them up.

Why the addresses look the same

BNB Smart Chain uses the same cryptography and address format as Ethereum. A wallet such as MetaMask will show you the same 0x address on both networks. The address is shared, but the balances are not: USDT you hold on BNB Smart Chain is a different token, on a different blockchain, from USDT on Ethereum.

Fees and speed

Ethereum fees depend on demand for block space and can range from cents to several dollars for a token transfer. BNB Smart Chain is designed for lower fees and faster blocks, so a BEP20 transfer typically costs a few cents and confirms in seconds. On either network, the fee is paid in the gas token — ETH or BNB — not in the token you are sending.

Decentralisation and trade-offs

Ethereum is secured by a very large, globally distributed validator set. BNB Smart Chain uses a smaller set of validators, which helps keep fees low but concentrates block production in fewer hands. For most everyday transfers this is not a practical concern; for long-term storage of large amounts, some users prefer Ethereum.

Token details that differ

The "same" stablecoin can have different technical details across chains. For example, USDT on Ethereum uses 6 decimal places, while the USDT token most commonly used on BNB Smart Chain uses 18. Wallets handle this automatically, but it is a reminder that these are separate tokens with separate contracts.

What happens if you send on the wrong network?

If you send BEP20 USDT to an exchange deposit address that only credits ERC20, the transaction succeeds on BNB Smart Chain, but the exchange may not see it. Because the address format is the same, the funds often can be recovered by whoever controls the address's private key — but exchanges are not obliged to do it, may charge for it, and may take weeks. Prevention is far easier than recovery.

How to choose

  • Use what the receiver supports. This is the only rule that really matters.
  • If both are supported and cost matters, BEP20 is usually cheaper.
  • If you need Ethereum DeFi apps, ERC20 (or an Ethereum layer 2 like Arbitrum) is the right home.

Moving USDT between BEP20 and ERC20

You can swap between networks directly: USDT BEP20 to ERC20, USDT ERC20 to BEP20, or to Tron with USDT BEP20 to TRC20. The form at the top of this page is set to BEP20 → ERC20.

How to tell which network a deposit address is on

You cannot tell from the address alone, because a 0x address is valid on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon and many other chains. Look at the deposit page instead: exchanges always label the network next to the address, often as "ERC20", "BEP20 (BSC)" or the chain's full name. If you only see "USDT" with no network, ask before sending.

Explorers: Etherscan vs BscScan

Once a transfer is sent, paste its transaction hash into the matching explorer: Etherscan for ERC20, BscScan for BEP20. If the hash shows up on one but not the other, that tells you which network the funds actually went to — useful when a deposit seems to be missing.

Gas tips

  • Keep a little ETH in any wallet that holds ERC20 tokens, and a little BNB in any wallet that holds BEP20 tokens.
  • On Ethereum, sending at quieter times of day can noticeably reduce fees.
  • Do not set custom gas limits unless you know what you are doing; a too-low limit makes the transaction fail and still costs a fee.

Frequently asked questions

Is BEP20 the same as ERC20?

No. They are token standards on different blockchains — BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum. They are compatible in design, which is why addresses look the same.

Can I send BEP20 to an ERC20 address?

The address format is the same, but the funds stay on BNB Smart Chain. Only send if the receiver supports BEP20.

Which is cheaper, BEP20 or ERC20?

BEP20 transfers usually cost a few cents. ERC20 fees vary with Ethereum demand and are typically higher.

Do I need BNB to send BEP20 tokens?

Yes, from your own wallet. Fees on BNB Smart Chain are paid in BNB.
